EC Tashi takes stock of snow clearance works on Kargil-Zanskar Road
KARGIL, APRIL 15, 2021: Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi inspected the status of snow clearance operations on the Kargil- Zanskar National Highway 301 here today.
Superintending Engineer Mechanical Kargil Om Prakash, Assistant Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division Sankoo Aga Syed Mehdi, engineers of NHIDCL besides other concerned officers accompanied the EC during the tour.
During the course of the tour, EC Tashi visited Penzila Top and other locations on the highway and interacted with the snow clearance team of Mechanical Division, Kargil.
The snow clearance team informed the EC that snow clearance on the highway has been cleared up to 152 KM from Kargil side and up to 74 kilometers from Zanskar side, adding that further 8 kilometers road stretch is yet to be cleared where the snow clearance operations are going on in full swing.
The EC instructed the SE Mechanical to deploy a dozer machine to expedite the snow clearance operations.
The engineers assured the EC that subject to fair weather conditions, the road will be made through for vehicular traffic within 4 to 5 days.
EC Tashi lauded the constant and tireless efforts of the snow clearance team of Mechanical Division Kargil for carrying out the road clearance operations with sincerity and dedication within the shortest possible time despite the recent heavy snowfall and inhospitable weather conditions.
The EC urged the team to continue their efforts further with added zeal and dedication so that the Kargil-Zanskar Road is made traffic worthy at the earliest possible.
