Executive Councilor for Mechanical and Education Departments, LAHDC, Kargil Zakir Husain today chaired a preparatory meeting ahead of the winter season.
EC Tourism, Urban Development, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-In Wani, Councilor Baroo Minji, Advocate Khadim Husain, XEN Mechanical R&B and PMGSY, Executive Officer MC Kargil, representative of NHIDCL besides other concerned officials were present during the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held on various measures to be taken to keep the roads within the district open during the winter season.
EC Mechanical directed the concerned official from PMGSY to let them know about preparedness beforehand to the agencies responsible for snow clearance work of various PMGSY roads.
EC Zakir Husain directed the concerned official of the Mechanical Department to keep all the machinery, equipment and manpower ready in advance so to tackle any emergency.
Regarding the Kargil-Zanskar highway, EC Zakir directed the representative of NHIDCL to furnish a detailed report of various stretches to be cleared by NHIDCL on the highway within one week. He also directed Mechanical Department to deploy men and machinery in advance at various locations on the highway as per the past practice.
The EC directed XEN Mechanical to provide one loader and dumper along with the manpower to MC Kargil for hassle-free snow clearance works in Baroo and town areas.
He also directed the concerned officers to remove the materials along the roadside before snowfall. He also directed them to store oil in advance at various locations to avoid any issue.
