Vote peacefully urges Election Commissioner

Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm

The counting of votes will start on June 22 at 8 am

Chandigarh, June 18 :– Voting for 18 Municipal Councils and 28 Municipalities in Haryana will be held on Sunday from 7 am to 6 pm. The Commissioner, Haryana State Election Commission, Sh. Dhanpat Singh has appealed to all the voters to cast their votes peacefully.  The counting of votes will begin on June 22 at 8 am.

On June 18 and 19 and on June 22,  which is the day of the counting of votes, dry day has been declared in the electoral areas. Liquor shops will be completely closed and there will be no sale of liquor.  Along with this, the Human Resource Department has also issued a letter to give paid leave on June 19 on the day of polling in the private sector.

Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there is a total of 456 Wards of 18 Municipal Councils.  A total of 185 candidates are in the fray for the post of president. Of these, 100 are male and 85 are female. However, 15 councillors have been elected unanimously out of 456 wards, while 1797 candidates are contesting in the remaining 441 wards.  Of these, 1076 are male and 721 are female.  Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there are 12.60 lakh voters in 18 municipal councils, out of which 6,63,870 are male, 5,96,095 female and 35 are transgender voters.  He informed that a total of 1290 polling booths have been set up for the municipal elections, out of which 289 are sensitive and 235 are hyper-sensitive polling booths. 6450 Polling Staff, 82 Duty Magistrates and 7087 Police Officers and employees have been appointed at these polling booths.

5.70 lakh voters in 28 Municipalities

Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there are 432 wards in 28 Municipalities.  A total of 221 candidates are contesting for the post of President, out of which 128 are male and 93 are female. Out of 432 councillors, 33 have been elected unanimously.  In the remaining 399 wards, 1301 candidates are in the fray, including 783 males and 518 females.  Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that there are a total of 5,70,208 voters, out of which 3,01,677 are male, 2,68,517 female and 14 are transgender.  A total of 671 polling booths have been set up for the municipality elections, out of which 144 are sensitive and 92 are vulnerable.  3355 Polling Staff, 69 Duty Magistrates and 5206 Police Officers and employees have been deployed at these polling booths.

4712 EVMs distributed for these elections

Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that a total of 4712 EVMs have been distributed for municipal councils and municipalities elections. The police have been directed to carry out additional patrolling and put blockades in the election areas. He further informed that adequate arrangements for drinking water and toilets have been made at the polling booths.  In this regard, directions have already been given to the Deputy Commissioners.  Wheelchairs for Divyangjan will be kept at every polling station. Adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, the provision of masks and sanitizers has also been made at each polling station.
