Haemoglobin is an iron-rich protein that is present in the red blood cells. According to medical experts, it is crucial to maintain normal levels of haemoglobin in your blood for your body to function properly, which is 14 to 18 g/dl for men and 12 to 16 g/dl for women.
Haemoglobin is inversely an important protein, important for living a healthy life and if it goes lower then it can have severe health effects.
If the haemoglobin drops, then a person may suffer from symptoms including: Headache, yellow skin, shortness of breath, weakness, dizziness, and poor appetite. Acute deficiency of iron can lead to anaemia.
However, include these food items in your diet to improve your haemoglobin in few weeks:
- B-complex vitamins are expected to make red blood cells and a folic acid deficiency automatically leads to low levels of haemoglobin. Some of the ingredients which you can eat are leafy vegetables, beetroot, dried beans, bananas and sprouts.
- Foods that are rich in vitamin C such as lemon, oranges, strawberries, tomatoes, papaya will increase the blood in the body.
- “An apple a day keeps the doctor away is”, a common phrase that every parent pronounces while proclaiming the importance of apple fruit for health care. It helps to maintain a normal level of haemoglobin, as it has plentiful iron that is required for a healthy haemoglobin count. There are two ways you can have an apple: either eat an apple a day or make an apple juice and add beetroot in it for more fruitful results.
- Food items that do not contribute to the making of blood cells are caffeine, tea, beer or energy drinks. A person having a lower haemoglobin level should avoid upper mentioned drinks as they can have adverse effects on health.
Besides the change in your diet, adapt some changes in your lifestyle including:
- Exercise – To maintain the haemoglobin levels your body should perform some physical activity in a day.
- Keep stress away- More you take stress, the more the blood levels fluctuate. So avoid the stress at least on small or baseless issues.
- Positive environment: If you think your surroundings are giving you negative vibes then, change your company without thinking twice.
