Alternate route from IT City to Kurali to decongest traffic on Airport in progress

SAS Nagar, November 06:

Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the IT City-Kurali National Highway 205-A would soon be the alternative route to decongest the traffic chaos at Airport Road Mohali.
Reviewing the progress related to various National Highway projects underway in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District, in a meeting with Project Director of National Highway Authority of India, Pardeep Attri, ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Derabassi Himashu Gupta, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Davy Goyal and District Revenue Officer Amandeep Chawla, the Deputy Commissioner asked the NHAI and district officials to clear all the bottlenecks in the smooth Construction/Completion of the projects.

The Project Director apprised the Deputy Commissioner that 30 percent onground work of the IT City to Kurali NH 205-A has been completed and they hope to complete the project in the stipulated time to provide  relief to the people from the traffic snarls at Airport road shortly. On raising issue of the pending possession of a stretch of one kilometer, the Deputy Commissioner directed the DRO to complelt all the formalities related to possession soon.
Discussing the progress of Sirhind-Mohali NH-205-AG, she said that out of the total 151.86 crore acquisition amount, disbursement of Rs 128.46 crore has already been done while awards of Bhago Majra nd Raipur Kalan would be announced soon.

Taking stock of Amabala Kalamb, the Deputy Commissioner Jain said that compensation for Untala, Khelan, Malan and Rajapur has been approved with the depositing of Rs 41.3 Crore by the NHAI with the Compitent Authority for Land Acquisition (Sub Divisional Magistrate). Out of which Rs 22 Crore has been disbursed to the land owners.

Similarly, in Ambala Chandigarh Green Field project, disbursement of compensation to the tune Rs 510 crore has been done out of the total 643 crore in SAS Nagar. Possession of 18.5 Km out of 26 Km has been taken.

Expressing concern over delay in awards for land realted to Zirakpur Bypass, in Villages Sanauli, Bir Peer Muchhala and Kakrali, the deputy commissioner asked the SDM Himanhsu Gupta and tehsildar Derabassi Kuldeep Singh to expedite the process to avoid further delay.
Deputy Commissioner further said that the work of installation of traffic lights to streamline the traffic congestion in Kharar have also been near completion by next week. She said that two lights have been installed while three are underway. The NHAI officials have been asked to speed up the installation of the rest of three lights too.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain requested the Project Director Pardeep Atri to monitor the progress of the projects under discussion on day to day basis so that these could be completed in time.
