Haryana Governor and Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya said that educational institutions play an important role in the development of the nation. Universities should sign MoUs with various skill development and private and public entities with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship, so that the overall personality of the students can be developed. The basic purpose of education cannot be fulfilled without developing the skills of the students. Along with the degree, attention will also have to be paid on character building and this objective can be fulfilled through moral education. Money is not power, but knowledge is power. Skill development is very important for knowledge and skill development based courses have to be promoted in our educational system too, so that a golden India can be made.

The Chancellor was speaking as the chief guest during a seminar on Higher Education and Skill Development organized in the university auditorium. In the presence of Vice Chancellor, Professor Ajmer Singh Malik, the Governor released the first edition of Triveni, a magazine of Directorate of Youth Welfare and congratulated the editorial board. Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Anish Yadav, and Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arpit Jain, were also present during the release.
The Governor said that the professors should keep a close eye on the research work being done all over the world along with acquiring new knowledge. He said that in the present information technology era, teachers should also keep themselves updated with the latest technology.
This was Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya’s first visit to Chaudhary Devi Lal University after becoming the Governor and on this occasion the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ajmer Singh Malik welcomed him and assured him that the University would be developed as a Centre of Excellence under his guidance. The Governor congratulated the university administration for starting the curriculum as per the new National Education Policy-2020 in the current session by the university. He said that the new courses started by this university would prove to be a milestone in building a golden future for the younger generation.
To make India the best, there is a need to develop a global outlook and move forward on the strength of knowledge and discipline. In fact, education is not just a means of getting employment, but it is a means to pave the way for the welfare of humanity through knowledge.
Professor Ajmer Singh Malik, said that it is a golden opportunity for the University that the Chancellor has come here to encourage the students, research scholars, professors and employees. On this occasion, the Directorate of Youth Welfare presented a colorful cultural programme filled with Haryanvi, Punjabi and Rajasthani culture and the Governor announced an incentive of Rs. 21,000 to the participants of the cultural programme. The forum was conducted by the Director, Youth Welfare, Dr. Manju Nehra.
