Fee of over 36 thousand girl students to be reimbursed under new distance education scheme

– Chief Minister sanctions Rs 14.83 crore for fee reimbursement

 

Jaipur, August 24 :-  Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has taken a key decision in the direction of promoting higher education of girl students by implementing the ‘Balika Doorasth Shiksha Yojana’ (Girls’ Distance Education Scheme) in the state. Now, girls and women of the state will get reimbursement of fees paid to institutions for pursuing higher education through distance education. With this, they will be able to build their future by continuing their studies.

Shri Gehlot has sanctioned Rs.14.83 crore for the purpose, which will benefit a total of 36,300 girls and women every year. Girls and women who can’t go to college and university regularly due to various reasons will get access to higher education through distance medium under the scheme.

Under this scheme, fee reimbursement provision has been made for 16,000 seats in undergraduate level courses, 5,300 in postgraduate courses, 10,000 in diploma courses, 3,000 in PG diploma courses and 2,000 seats in certificate courses. Classes will be conducted through distance education scheme by the state government-aided universities, state institutes / Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota. The fee paid by the students to these institutes will be reimbursed.

It is to be noted that the Chief Minister had announced the implementation of the scheme in the budget 2022-23.
