Arrangements made for the Games appreciated in the meeting with the CDMs of States and Union Territories
Chandigarh, May 22 – Fulfilling the vision of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal to motivate youth to build a career in sports and lead a healthy life, the preparations for Khelo India Youth Games – 2021 to be held in Panchkula from June 4 to June 13, 2022 are moving at a fast pace.
In this episode, today a meeting was organised by the officials of Khelo India Organizing Committee on behalf of Haryana Government with the ‘Chef-de-Mission’ (CDM) of all the states and union territories of the country.
The meeting was presided over by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry who has been associated with Khelo India for a long time. Director of Sports Department and Joint Chief Executive Officer of Khelo India Youth Games – 2021, Sh. Pankaj Nain and Secretary of Sports Authority of India, Sh. Rohit Bhardwaj and other officers were also present in the meeting.
Haryana has a big heart
Adviser to the Chief Minister and a long-time associate of Khelo India, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry said that he is getting positive vibes while welcoming the ‘Chef-de-Mission’ from all the states of Khelo India Youth Games-2021 to Haryana. He said that the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal believes that youth should not get deviated from their path and for this he should be associated with sports as it will instill discipline in them. Haryana has got the opportunity to organize Khelo India because of the efforts of the Chief Minister. He said that Haryana has a big heart and any suggestions made in the meeting regarding the preparations for Games would be considered earnestly.
He said that during these 10-day long games, Panchkula will be converted into a mini India. Players from all parts of the country along with their coaches and government officials will be present here. In this way, Khelo India also weaves the strings of Indianness in us.
He said that the players coming here would know more about the state of Haryana, how the players from here bring medals in Olympics. He said that school children from states like Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Ladakh, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya will come to play these games will come to Panchkula, Haryana and see its rich culture and traditions.
Addressing the meeting, Sh. Pankaj Nain said that it is a matter of pride for Haryana that it has got the opportunity of hosting the Khelo India Youth Games-2021. He added that this has been possible due to the efforts of Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal. He said that the departments concerned have been on their toes to ensure immaculate arrangements and no stone will be left unturned in this regard. He said that the role of ‘Chef-de-Mission’ is very crucial in organizing big sports events.
He said that for 10 days, 8000 athletes and supporting staff will be in Haryana, which is called the land of sports and hoped that they would take back good memories from here. He added that Haryana Government will provide superlative infrastructure and sports equipment, kits and accommodation arrangements to the athletes at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Panchkula as well as sports stadiums at five places namely Ambala, Shahbad, Chandigarh and Delhi.
Kabaddi and volleyball will be started a day before the event
On June 3, Kabaddi and Volleyball competitions will be started at Khel Bhawan-2 of Tau Devi Lal Stadium. An app will also be launched so that the players coming to Haryana do not face any kind of inconvenience. Apart from this, the toll free number 1800-202-5155 of the call centre has also been started by the Sports Authority of India.
Nodal Officer of Khelo India Sh. Vivek Padam Singh, State Convenors and other officers of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Centre and Haryana Governments were also present on this occasion.
