As per directions of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, and under the guidance of Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar, a Legal Awareness Programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, in the bar room of Bar Association, Dera Bassi.
Sh. Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar addressed the gathering that in cases under Commercial Courts Act, in which no urgent interim relief is sought, pre-institution mediation is mandatory as per Section 12-A of the Act. In case the parties do not arrive at a settlement in pre-institution mediation, then a regular suit in Commercial Court can be filed. He appealed the advocates to take benefit of mediation process for settlement of commercial cases through ADR mechanism at pre-institution stage.
