Strict action will be taken against drunken drivers – Sh. Anil Vij
Chandigarh, May 27 :- Haryana Home and Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that a meeting of senior officers to check the violations of heavy vehicles on highways in the state and to speed up the inspection drive will be held soon. Strict action will be taken against drunken driving. Sh. Vij said this while interacting with mediapersons today.
He said that the inspection drive would be continued to check the violations of heavy vehicles on highways and he himself would visit other districts of the state to inspect lane driving on the highways.
Inspection campaign will be carried out strictly – Sh. Vij
Responding to a question regarding road accidents, he said that in a year there are about 5,000 deaths in road accidents and about 9,000 people get injured in road accidents in Haryana and all this is due to non-adherence of traffic rules. Therefore, this inspection drive will be carried out strictly.
Instructions will be given to the officers regarding lane driving – Vij
Sh. Vij said that he will hold a meeting of all the officers very soon in which all the Superintendents of Police, Commissioners of Police, DCPs and higher officials will be present and instructions will be given to all the officers and personnel of the traffic police to ensure that heavy vehicles should ply on the designated lane.
“Traffic rules need to be adhered to” – Sh. Vij
Replying to another question, he said that everyone is responsible for road accidents and for non-adherence of rules. He said that everyone will have to follow the traffic rules and ensure the others also follow.
State keep an eye on drug menace
Responding to a query regarding drug trade in the state, Sh. Vij said that “we are continuously campaigning against drug abuse.” He said that “all the Superintendents of Police in the state send reports to me every week about the number of raids they conducted and the amount of drugs they seized. I closely monitor the entire process and go through the report.”
