Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) participated at Festival of Science at DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The team put up an active stall, wherein products made under project “Arpan” by self-help groups were showcased, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team of Panjab University (P.U.).
The festival was organized by Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI), an NGO working for the popularization of Science & Technology through its outreach education programmes. Shri.Dharam Vir (IAS Retd.) is the president of SPSTI and Prof. Keya Dharamvir is General Secretary (Formerly at Dept. of Physics, P.U.). They had a high opinion of the team’s showcase of pivotal projects and intriguing initiatives, told Shubham Dhiman, President of Enactus SSBUICET.
Prof. Kapoor expressed her pleasure at the opportunity to engage with the community and audience and said that this opportunity aided the team to transcend project Arpan into another league, owing to its provision of a comprehensive and co-operative audience.
The products viz. Dhoop, Agarbatti and Samrani Cups made from waste flowers collected from temples by Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under project Arpan encountered overwhelming appreciation. The project Arpan was started under the Mission Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana– National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) by MCC.This scheme is meant for the urban poor, which offers various benefits such as providing skill training and capacity-building programs, fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities, conveyed Shri. Vivek Trivedi, Social Development Officer of DAY-NULM.
The efforts of Enactus team which have saliently exaggerated the horizons of entrepreneurship, sustainability and social duty were received well owing to the visitors’ curiosity and understanding towards the projects’ core aims and driven output. This opportune event helped the team in furthering its cause of awareness regarding concepts of communities, economic development, health and environment, told Aarzoo Dhiman, Vice President, Enactus, Panjab University.
