Hannu Gandhi, Research scholar, Centre for Social Work secured 5th AIR (All India Rank) to become an Assistant Labour Commissioner, conducted by UPSC.

 Hannu Gandhi, a research scholar at Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh, has secured the 5th Rank in the recently announced results by the Union  Public Service Commission (UPSC) to be an Assistant Labour Commissioner.

He graduated with honors in sciences and later he pursued his post-graduation in Social Work from the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh. At present, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Social Work, in labor welfare under the Supervision of Dr Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson of Centre for Social Work.

Despite a very tough competition, Hannu clinched the fifth rank in the UPSC exam, surpassing over thousands of brilliant candidates appearing from diverse disciplines, including laws, business administration etc shared Gaurav Gaur. His dedication and commitment to social service were recognized when he was pursuing his Masters at our department.

Hannu Gandhi, while expressing gratitude to his parents, teachers, and friends, for their unwavering support and attributes his success to consistency and patience. He also shared that his aspiration to serve the labor class underscores his commitment to societal welfare, promising a brighter future for marginalized communities.

Hannu further sated that the journey has just begun, It entrusts on me a responsibility that can bring justice to millions of people in this country. All I know is the zeal that has brought me this far, will continue to inspire me till my last breath.

All the teachers of the department, researchers and students congratulated him on his grand success.
