GDC Nowshera held online competitions to mark Blood Donation Day

Red Ribbon Club, Government Degree College, Nowshera held two online competitions to mark the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2020”. The events held were Poster making competition on the theme “Let’s donate blood voluntarily and contribute to the fight against CORONA” and also a Slogan writing competition on the theme “The need for safe blood and blood products”. The events were held by Prof. Pooja Devi, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club under the supervision and guidance of Principal of the College, Dr. Surinder Kumar.
The motive of these competitions was to spread awareness among the students about the blood donation in the fight against CORONA. The students of all the semesters took part with immense zeal and enthusiasm bringing out their creative side and drawing skills. The jury comprised College faculty, Prof. Atal Bharti (Department of Physics), Dr. Bandhna Thakur (Department of Hindi) and Prof. Sanjay Kumar (Department of Chemistry). The decision regarding the winners was made on the basis of certain  criteria such as relevance to the theme, accuracy and clarity of the message, neatness and overall presentation. In the poster making competition, Neha Thakyal (Semester-I)  bagged first position; Rachita Sharma (Sem. V) and Sanjana Kumari (Sem. I) shared second position and the third position was shared by Palvi Sharma (Sem I) and Harpreet Bindra (Sem. I).
In the slogan writing competition, Palak (Sem. V) claimed first position, Sonia Choudhary (Sem. V) and Anjli Choudhary (Sem. V) shared second position, while Third position was clinched by Manisha Choudhary (Sem. I). The winners were given e certificates.
