Government sanctions Rs 38.93 lakh for upgradation of Sherpur’s burial ground

Backfinco vice-chairman holds meeting with MC officials for speedy completion
Ludhiana, June 3 2021 Fulfilling the long pending demand of Muslim brethren for the upgradation of Sherpur’s burial place, the Punjab Government on Thursday has sanctioned a grant of Rs 38.93 lakh which would be used to build boundary wall, rooms and maintenance of the graveyard.
Disclosing further details, Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (Backfinco) vice-chairman Mohammad Gulab said that the Muslim community in Sherpur, Dhandari, Focal Point and surrounding areas was seeking immediate improvement in the infrastructure of a burial place for several years following which he took up the matter with Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu and Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu for financial assistance to carry out the works there.
Gulab thanked them and said that now the grant has been sanctioned by the Punjab Government with their efforts.
Moreover, to expedite the pace of the works at the site, Backfinco vice-chairman held a meeting with MC officials including Superintendent Engineer Parveen Singla, SDO Shami Kapoor and asked them to ensure speedy completion.
He said that Punjab Government is committed to ensuring the welfare and prosperity of the Muslim community and would extend all possible help to them.
