After the success of ‘Growtherator Ludhiana”, a 6 month business accelerator program. The Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME) in partnership with the Department of Industries and Commerce Government of Punjab and supported by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) is planning expansion of the programme in Mohali district.

A meeting was held at the DC Office, Mohali in this regard, chaired by Mr. Tejveer Singh, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce and Ms. Isha Kalia, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, with senior government officials and local industry associations members in attendance. Ms. Padmasudha Chandrasekhar, Vice-President, GAME, Mr. Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU and Mr. Sachit Jain, MD, Vardaman Special Steels were also present.
“The programme is for budding entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. The idea is to develop a thriving growth ecosystem for entrepreneurship development in Punjab. Department of Industries and Commerce is at the forefront of supporting MSMEs with attractive incentives, providing robust infrastructure, a one stop clearance system and subsidized power tariffs. Our aim is to empower the entrepreneurs for their businesses to flourish.” said Mr. Tejvir Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce.
“Mohali has great entrepreneurial potential and there is a strong need for a robust capacity building architecture, for growth to local businesses. MSMEs play an important role in supporting local job creation, economic growth and capital formation. The District Administration of Mohali supports engagements of local entrepreneurs and industry associations towards scalability and growth. We are aiming for a dynamic and conducive environment to support growth of entrepreneurs across different sectors, in collaboration with local champions.” said Ms. Isha Kalia, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali.
Ms. Tapinder Kaur Ghuman, Governance Fellow, who is the nodal programme officer from Government of Punjab, mentioned that 63% of the participating companies (MSMES) reported an increase in clients across all business model types, during the first cohort of Growtherator in Ludhiana. The programme is to support promising mass entrepreneurs in improving their productivity, efficiency and profitability in helping scale their businesses further. targeted at training development of MSME owners.
