Five projects worth about Rs 97 crore approved in the meeting

Roads to be strengthened in Rai and Barhi Industrial Estate of Sonepat

Chandigarh, November 7– Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal presided over the second meeting of the Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS), constituted to monitor the implementation of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) here today. In the meeting, five projects worth about Rs 97 crore were approved. Addressing the meeting, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal while presenting the 2022-23 budget speech had announced the strengthening of the roads in all the industrial estates located in the state and moving ahead with this, five projects related to the strengthening of roads were approved.

Roads in Sonepat’s Rai and Barhi industrial estates to be strengthened

Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that to strengthen connectivity in Industrial Parks and Economic Zones under PM Gati Shakti, roads will be widened and strengthened in Sector-38, Phase-II, Industrial Estate in Rai, Sonepat. “It will cost around Rs 16.13 crore. This industrial estate is spread over an area of 375 acres and the mapping of this project has been completed on PM Gati Shakti NMP,” he added.

Meanwhile, the work of strengthening the roads would also be initiated at Barhi Industrial Estate, Phase-I of Sonipat at the cost of Rs 11.52 crore, said the Chief Secretary adding that at present 472 industrial units were operating in this industrial estate spread over 275 acres. He said that the strengthening of roads will provide better accessibility to these units for carrying out day-to-day work. “With the development of better infrastructure, not only the industrial units will be able to expand their units, but it will eventually increase employment opportunities too,” said Sh. Kaushal.

He said that a Mega Food Park is also being set up in Barhi Industrial Sector in an area of 75 acres. The food park will be completely hi-tech and a better system will be developed here with modern machines. This will attract entrepreneurs to Haryana, which will further encourage industries here, he added.

Road network to be strengthened in Rewari and Gurugram too

Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that the roads at IMT Bawal, Phase-II in Rewari would also be widened and strengthened; at a cost of Rs 11.51 crore. At present, a total of 260 industrial units are running in this industrial sector built on 1015 acres. He said that approval was also given in the meeting for two-lane of Jamalpur road from Panchgaon to Farukhnagar on a budget of about Rs 44 crore.

This road will start from Delhi-Jaipur National Highway and will go through National Highway-352 (West) to Model Economic Township, Jhajjar. “Apart from this, to strengthen the connectivity in Gurugram and Nuh, the road will be widened and strengthened at a cost of Rs 13.66 crore. This road will start from Delhi-Jaipur National Highway and will go till National Highway-919,” he added. He said that the area is a logistics hub, wherein many warehouses exists and strengthening these roads will further boost the logistics efficiency in the NCR region.

The Chief Secretary directed the officials to check the feasibility while designing the projects under PM Gati Shakti so that there will be no difficulty in its implementation and it can be dedicated to the public within the stipulated time period.

Focus on multi-model connectivity

Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that under PM Gati Shakti, the departments related to infrastructure and connectivity had been brought on a single platform and projects will be outlined with the help of technologies like Geographic Information System based planning, route planning, monitoring and satellite imagery.

He said that under the PM Gati Shakti programme, the synergy between important projects like railways and roads will help in strengthening the infrastructure. “Keeping in mind the geographical location and environment, the emphasis is on multi-model connectivity. This means that the use of metro rail is being focused on where it is practical. Thus, every sector will be developed on the basis of practicality,” he added. During the meeting, it was informed that 28 different data layers including Revenue Estates, Roads, Tourist Places, Economic Zones, and Industrial Parks have been updated under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh VS Kundu, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Wildlife Department, Sh. Vineet Garg, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sh. V. Umashankar, Commissioner and Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Sh. Vikas Gupta, Chief Administrator, Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, and Deputy Director General, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India and Nodal Officer for Haryana under PM Gati Shakti, Sh. VK Verma, among other officials, were present.
