Haryana Government to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021

Chandigarh, March 6 – Haryana Government has decided to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021. On this occasion, the proceedings of the ongoing budget session of Haryana Legislative Assembly will be conducted by women members. Besides this, Arts and Cultural Affairs Department of Haryana Government is organizing a cultural programme ‘Aprajita-2021’ on March 8, 2021 in the evening at Tagore Theater in Sector 18, Chandigarh.

Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that during the first day of the budget session that commenced on March 5, 2021, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta announced the names of women member MLAs including Seema Trikha, Naina Singh Chautala, Nirmal Rani Chaudhary, Geeta Bhukkal and Kiran Chaudhary to conduct the House proceedings on International Women’s Day. On this day, more and more women members will get an opportunity to speak in the House.

He said that a short drama based on women empowerment ‘Kitne Chehre Kitne Mukhotte’ will be presented by Dr Mahesh Kumar during the cultural programme in the evening. Besides this, a folk dance performance based on Devi Aradhana and Ragini on women empowerment and folk dance of Haryana will also be the centre of attraction for the audience. He informed that there will be no entry fee for the audience at Tagore Theater.

The spokesperson said that on this occasion, district-level programmes will be organized in educational institutions as well.
