Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij will launch the third round of the Sero survey on June 15, 2021

Chandigarh, June 10 – Haryana Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij will launch the third round of the Sero survey on June 15, 2021, to determine the prevalence of SAR-CoV-2 antibodies in the community and to estimate the prevalence in the children aged 6-17 years (a group excluded from vaccination).

Sharing information in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Sh. Rajeev Arora said today said that the state government is all set to carry out the third round of the COVID-19 Sero Survey in the State and all the necessary preparations in this regard have already been made.

Sh. Arora said that the study will also collect the data to know the vaccination effect and efficacy and will help us in planning and strengthening paediatric services including the establishment and upscaling of intensive care units (PICU). The study is to provide us information regarding susceptible populations and areas in the State, to channelize and prioritize the vaccination drive in these areas.

He further elaborated that the aim of this round of Sero Survey is to identify the impact of the second wave of COVID-19 in the community. Children aged 6 years and above have also been included in the study to assess seroprevalence in the children.

Sh. Arora further said that the state has already conducted two rounds of Sero Surveys, 1st round of the Sero Survey was conducted in Aug 2020 wherein seroprevalence of COVID 19 was found to be 8 per cent and 2nd round was conducted in Oct 2020 wherein seroprevalence of COVID 19 was found to be 14.8 per cent in the whole state.
