Chandigarh, Sept 2 :- Haryana Police has been conferred with the National Award for Smart Policing instituted by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in the category of ‘Road Safety and Traffic Management’ for its IT-based initiative ‘Centralised Vehicle Towing Management System’.
On behalf of Haryana Police, Superintendent of Police, Sonipat, Sh. Himanshu Garg, who had introduced the robust system while being posted as DCP Traffic in Gurugram, received the award at a function held in New Delhi.
While appreciating Sh. Himanshu Garg for this remarkable achievement, the Director General of Police (DGP) Haryana Sh. P.K. Agrawal said that it is a proud moment for the entire police force as it has once again got recognition at the national level.
Sh. Himanshu Garg informed that this system was incepted to provide a robust and transparent towing system that minimizes discretion of traffic police and other stakeholders and facilitates evidence-based towing which can be monitored from a centralized location. In addition, officers can check while sitting in offices whether towing operations are being undertaken on the designated roads or not. Crane-wise performances can also be monitored.
