304 kg ‘ganja patti’ being smuggled from Andhra seized in Haryana

Chandigarh September 2 – Haryana Police has arrested an accused after it confiscated 304 kg of ‘ganja patti’ worth 50 lakhs from his possession in Palwal district. The recovered drug was being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh by hiding it between cotton bundles in a truck.

While giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that a police team received information regarding drug smuggling in a closed body truck full of cotton bundles. As per the input, the accused are smuggling ganja from Tamil Nadu which will go towards Mewat through Hodal via Kosikalan district Mathura (UP). As soon as the information was received, the team intercepted the truck and took the driver into custody. During the search of the vehicle, 19 plastic bags hidden in between cotton bundles were recovered, weighing 304 kg of ganja patti.

The arrested accused was identified as Shokeen of Punhana district Nuh.

         During interrogation, the accused said that he had loaded the cotton bundles from Tamil Nadu. The drug was hidden between the cotton bundles from Anandaki town in Andhra Pradesh.

 A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.
