Haryana to ramp up constructing community toilets at various Public places such as bus-stands, schools or chaupals in large villages

 

Chandigarh, July 22- Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala has directed the officers to ramp up the work of constructing community toilets at various Public places such as bus-stands, schools or chaupals in large villages of the State so that the target of Swachh Bharat Mission can be achieved.

Deputy Chief Minister said this while presiding over the meeting to review the work being carried out in rural areas under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin held here today. Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal and Director, Rural Development, Mr. Hardeep Singh, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

In the meeting, it was informed that under Swachh Bharat Mission, 4000 Community Sanitary Complexes have been constructed in rural areas near Dalit Bastis and at a public place, and for this Sarpanches, swachhagrahi and GRAVIT volunteers had participated enthusiastically.

It was also informed that for the cleanliness of rural areas in Haryana, the State was ranked at number one position in Swachh Survekshan Grameen Awards 2018 in the country.  Besides this, Rewari, Gurugram, and Karnal districts were declared as cleanest districts in the country.

Deputy Chief Minister was apprised that the State had bagged the first position in the North-Zone and had also bagged the second position in the country in Swachh Survekshan Grameen Awards 2019.  In the category of cleanest districts, Faridabad and Rewari got the second and third positions respectively in the country.

Mr. Dushyant Chautala directed the officers to expedite and bring quality in the work being carried out under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin. He said that the best standard to measure the development of any nation is the health of its society. The health of the citizens has a direct impact on their workforce. The citizen workforce is directly linked with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The country with strong production power is successful in setting new standards of development at the global level.  It is clear that for the development of any nation, it is very important to improve the civic health of the country, he said.  He said that the State Government aims to improve the cleanliness levels in rural areas of the State.
