Provide cash assistance of Rs 10,000 each to rural and urban poor: Lal Chand Kataruchakk
Dues of MGNREGA workers must be released immediately and minimum wage should be fixed at Rs 600
Chandigarh, May 17 , 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab SC Wing president Lal Chand Kataruchakk has demanded from Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to poor families living in villages and cities and Rs 600 to MGNREGA workers. He said that the Captain government should immediately implement the announced pension of Rs 2,500 for old age, widows, disabled and dependent children as per its election promise. In a memorandum sent to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh through the Deputy Commissioner, Kataruchakk on Monday said that the outbreak of Covid pandemic was on the rise in Punjab.
He said that due to the lax health arrangements of the Punjab government and the inability to get expensive treatment in private hospitals, the common man and especially the poor were being pushed to the brink of death and they were dying due to lack of oxygen. He said that the needs of all the poor people of Punjab who were suffering due to the Covid pandemic should be met. Through his letter to the Chief Minister, Lal Chand Kataruchakk demanded immediate provision of kitchen utensils to all the poor families in Punjab for two months and free distribution of one gas cylinder to each of the families.
The AAP leader said that due to the businesses being closed following the lockdown, all the rural and urban poor should be given cash assistance of Rs 10,000 each. “The arrears of wages of MGNREGA workers should be released immediately and the minimum wage should be fixed at Rs 600,” said Kataruchakk. He demanded to streamline the government hospitals and provide doctors, nurses and other necessary health workers and machinery. “Strong arrangements should be made to fight Covid and all should be vaccinated uniformly and free of cost,” he added.
