Lecture on Swami Dayanand’s revolutionary thought held in PU

Chandigarh November 3:

Panjab University’s Sanskrit department held a lecture titled ‘Swami Dayanand Dwara Pravartit Vaicharik Kranti’ today. The speaker at the lecture was Dr. Vikram, teacher at the department. The lecture was held under the celebrations of the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. The lecture was attended by teachers, research scholars and students of the department.

Dr. Vikram introduced the participants with the literature authored by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He said, “Swami ji authored various books starting with Satyartha Prakasha, Vyavahara Bhanu, and so forth, through which he spread knowledge of the Vedic culture and revolutionary ideas of nationalism.” Dr. Vikram also told how Swami Dayanand fought against casteism, Sati pratha, and other ills of the then Indian society. “Swami ji fought for the rights of women and Dalits”, he added.

Teacher at the department Dr. Vijay Bharadwaj gave vote of thanks and told how Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s commentary on Vedas led to a huge corpus of literature both in support of and against his interpretation of Vedas, due to which his message spread among a wider audience.
