Lt Gen Devendra Sharma SM  Chief of Staff HQ Western Command today  visited scroll painting event ‘Kala Kumbh’ at Chitkara University near Rajpura . This workshop is organized by Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Defence under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

On this occasion he interacted with around 250 painting artists representing various forms of the art and have come from around 12 States . He also met NCC cadets there and interacted with them . The NCC cadets are also working on scroll painting and depicting the flavour of patriotism through paint and brush . 
 
On this occasion , H/ Captain Bana Singh ( PVC ) , Subedar Sanjay Kumar ( PVC ) and Major D P Singh were also present as guests . All the guests closely observed the art  work of all the 250  artists who are working on  huge Scroll / canvas of around 500 meters of length and 3 meters of height which will be displayed at Raj Path, New Delhi during Republic Day celebration on 26 January 2022 and it will be inaugurated by PM Shri Narendra Modi.
Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma interacted with NCC cadets specially and appreciate their efforts and work . H / Captain Bana Singh ( PVC ) and Subedar Sanjay Kumar ( PVC ) while interacting the NCC cadets said that the discipline has important place in life and they should adhere to it while serve the nation with love and respect. Major DP Singh said that one must keep positive thinking and approach all the time and should meet the responsibilities the country has given .
 
Pro Chancellor of Chitkara University  Dr Madhu Chitkara welcomed the guests and said that the art work of  ‘Kala Kumbh ‘ will be seen by citizen of India and through this they will know about the unsung freedom fighters of country. On this ocassion  Mr Adwait Garanayak , Director General National Gallery of Modern Art ( NGMA ) New Delhi , Mr Harshwardhan Sharma, Chairman – Advisory Committee NGMA , Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University Dr Archna Mantri , Dean of Design School Dr Ranjan Malik , Dean of Media School Dr Ashutosh Mishra were also present .
