DC Aashika Jain Appeals the Eligible Sikh Voters to Come Forward and register for Gurdwara Board (SGPC) Elections
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 13, 2024
District Administration Mohali’s outreach program to sensitise eligible Sikh voters to come forward to become voters for Gurdwara Board (SGPC) elections has bore fruit as Saturday saw a huge appearance of aspirants at special camps organised in Gurdwara Sahiban, in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district.
Divulging  details, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain who is taking keen interest in  enrollment campaign, said that the previous week, on knowing the fact that the enrollment campaign is lagging in the district named after the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sahibzada Ajit Singh, it was a big challenge for the entire administrative team to boost the campaign. “We conceived a strategy to strike the chord of eligible sikh voters by roping in the local Gurdwara Committees by visiting them personally and the results are  very encouraging”, added Mrs Jain.
Mrs Jain who opened her address at Gurdwara Sahiban with the importance of Gurdwara Board Elections and the right to exercise the vote in these elections, has got tremendous response from the religious leaders.
She said that our efforts got an overwhelming response on Saturday as the Special Camps organised there registered many a person having eligibility to become a Voter.
“Announcements from the Gurudwara Sahiban, have a religious and fruitful impact on the Sikh Voters and our purpose is to try to engage every eligible voter with the enrollment campaign that is going to end on February 29”, further adding the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner who made fervent appeals during her visit to Banur, Manauli Surat and Dapper on Friday, said that all the Sub Divisional     Magistrates who have been designated as the Revising Authority Officers and all the Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars who have been designated as Assistant Revising Authority Officers under the enrollment campaign as per the directions of Chief Commissioner, Gurdwara Elections, are doing well with the help of Patwaris in Rural area and Municipal Staff in the Urban Area.
Besides this, if anyone wants to submit the form on its own, he can get the copy from the district website; SASNagar.nic.in and can submit it after going through it carefully to the nearby Revising Authority Officer.
She clarified that unlike the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections, the voter list for the Gurdwara elections has to be prepared afresh before the program of the Gurdwara elections is announced, so all the voters are being registered afresh.
SDMs Himanshu Gupta from Derabassi, Chandrajyoti Singh from Mohali and Gurmandar Singh from Kharar added that the enrollment campaign has gathered momentum after the Deputy Commissioner devised the strategy of connecting with local Gurdwara Committees.
She also hold a review meeting with the SDMs-cum-Revising Authority Officers at camp office today and asked them to spruce up the voter enrollment campaign to engage maximum voters for Gurudwara Board Elections.
