The Physics Department of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the college’s Renewable Energy Committee, organised an online Quiz Competition to mark the celebration of Akshay Urja Diwas 2022. The celebration was sponsored by Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Chandigarh. The quiz was based on the ‘Impact of Akshay Urja in India’. The main objective of the quiz was to generate awareness among students regarding our planet’s depleting resources and the need to use natural sources of energy like hydroelectric power, solar energy, wind energy and biogas. 35 students enthusiastically participated in the quiz. The winners and participants were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative to spread awareness about the importance of renewable energy resources for a sustainable future. She added that conscious of its responsibility towards the environment, the college has been a frontrunner in adopting the use of renewable energy like harnessing of solar energy and production of biogas from mess food waste.
