The NSS units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the college’s Cyber Interns of Cyber Swacchta Mission, celebrated Cyber Jagrukta Diwas. Over 80 students participated in the celebration that included an awareness generation activity wherein students were made aware about the issue of cybercrimes and ways to ensure one’s safety in cyberspace. The Cyber Interns apprised the audience about Cyber Swachhta Mission of Cyber Cell, Chandigarh Police, which is an initiative for community level engagement to spread awareness about the current cyber threats.

Highlighting the importance of following cyber hygiene, the Cyber Interns sensitised the students about various cyber safety techniques, reporting mechanisms and ways to be cyber smart. Information about Cyber Yuva Clubs under Cyber Swachhta Mission was also shared with the students and they were encouraged to volunteer as Cyber soldiers.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the NSS units and Cyber Interns for sensitising students about the crucial aspect of cybersecurity that has become extremely relevant in this age of internet proliferation. She added that awareness and empowerment programmes are imperative to equip citizens with requisite skills to tackle the menace of cyber crimes.
