MCM faculty’s book on Inequality in India released

Carrying forward the tradition of academic excellence at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, three of its faculty members released their book titled ‘Inequality in India: Emerging Trends and Perspectives’. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava unveiled the book authored by Dr. Minakshi Rana, Dr. Geetanjali Singh and Dr. Manika Kohli. Speaking at the release, Dr. Bhargava asserted that despite various growth measures, the country is mired in the abyss of multi-faceted disparities ranging across a wide array of socio-economic aspects. She added that this book is an initiative to highlight and bring to the forefront such multi-disciplinary issues which are aggravating the problem of inequality in the country.
The foreword of the book has been written by Dr. Surender Kumar, Professor and Head of Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. The book is an attempt to highlight various crucial problems that have led to rise in inequality in the country.

The book delves into these problems by systematically presenting the trends and current challenges along with relevant case studies. Thus, the book is a systematic synthesis and complete guide to the contemporary philosophy on inequality in India. This issue, having economy-wide implications, will therefore make the book extremely useful for policy-makers, industry practitioners, management consultants, besides the students and the academicians.
