MCM holds workshop on Digital Tools for Research in Social Sciences

The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a workshop on the topic ‘Digital Tools: A Gateway for Research in Social Sciences’. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Anuradha Sekhri, Associate Professor, Institute for Development and Communication, Chandigarh. Dr. Sekhri highlighted the importance of technology and, digital tools and resources in research. The expert explained the research process in a lucid manner and also discussed numerous ways by which one can enhance research productivity. Various methods of data collection such as Survey Monkey, Mentimeter, Kwik Surveys, etc. and different tools and softwares for data analysis such as SPSS, R, SciPy, Orange, etc. were discussed during the workshop. Furthermore, the significance of data analysis in research was elucidated by the resource person and various problems in data analysis faced by researchers were also discussed. Dr. Sekhri acknowledged the growing role of AI-based tools which can be used for data collection in the present times. The students were also explained about plagiarism and the ways by which one can check it.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava motivated the budding researchers to undertake research and innovation for nation’s growth and development. She informed that the college promotes research by students and faculty, and has provision of research seed money for the same.
