The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised an online workshop on Business Model Canvas with the aim to propagate the culture of innovation and start-ups among the students. The speaker for the workshop was Dr Manika Kohli, Innovation Ambassador, MCM IIC and Assistant Professor, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women. Dr Kohli provided insights into preparation of a business plan and talked presentation of a business pitch to the prospective investors. Business Model Canvas, as described by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010) in their famous book Business ‘Model Generation: A handbook for visionaries, game changers, and challengers’, was the highlight of the session. Hands on training to prepare the canvas was imparted to the students through various examples during the workshop. Over 69 students and faculty members participated in the session. The students actively participated in the question-answer session and found the activity very interesting and fruitful.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the efforts of Institution Innovation Council and said that the college will continue to inculcate innovation and entrepreneurship culture in the students through such initiatives. She added that the college endeavours to encourage the entrepreneurial pursuits of students and give a practical shape to their ideas.
