Speaking on the occasion, Sh Sandeep Singh congratulated the organizers of the Cyclothon rally and Chairman, Sports Promotion Society, Panchkula, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta.  He said that Cyclothon is a unique initiative in Panchkula and for the first time such a rally has been organized here.  This type of event sends a big message to the people of the district as how one can keep fit through cycling.  He said that during the Covid period, stay-at-home women also kept themselves fit by cycling at home due to the lockdown.  He said that when he suffered a knee injury while playing, doctors had asked him to cycle and it was only by cycling that his knee injury was cured.

He said that along with exercising, we should take a balanced diet to keep ourselves fit in normal life, fast food i.e. junk food has taken the place of a balanced diet in today’s fast-paced life.  A balanced diet and adequate amount of exercise will enable the players to bring medals in sports, and sportspersons and youth have to save themselves from junk food to stay fit.

He said that Panchkula is fortunate that a big event like Khelo India is going to be held here.  With Khelo India, players will be able to get better grounds already equipped with modern systems for basketball, handball, volleyball and hockey.  Some of these grounds will be ready by the end of this month.  The Haryana government is completely sensitive towards the sportspersons. He said that the government gives Rs.6 crore to the Olympic gold medalist, Rs.4 crore to the silver medalist, Rs. 2.5 crore to the bronze medalist and good posts in police and other departments.
