Municipal Corporation Mohali intensifies fogging in full throttle

To contain the spread of vector-borne diseases, including dengue, Municipal Corporation (MC) Mohali today intensified fogging drive with full throttle in all wards of the city.

Municipal Commissioner Mr. Kamal Kumar Garg said that we have divided the city into four zones to ensure fogging in every nook and corner of the city with a meticulously designed comprehensive fogging plan. Every Zone will be catered by different teams as four teams were formed to ensure fogging in every part of the city. He divulged further that Zone number one will be catered by the team supervised by Chief Sanitary Inspector Harwant Singh, besides the other teams lead by Chief Sanitary Inspector Rajinderpal Singh, Chief Sanitary Inspector Sarabjeet Singh and Chief Sanitary Inspector Sham Lal respectively, will be accountable of fogging of their particular area.

Talking about the formation being used during the fogging, Mr. Garg informed that we are using Cyphenothrin 5% EC as per the specifications to kill mosquitoes. He said that now onwards we have decided to specifically emphasize fogging during the evening as the Aedes Aegypti Mosquitoes have active during that time. He said that the MC has initiated a special drive to aware people through pamphlets and other related material distribution door to door. He also informed that the teams have already been deputed to clear the vegetation along with N Choe and other parts of the city, besides ensuring to clear water stagnation in parks, fountains and other places.
Meanwhile, Mayor Mr. Amarjeet Singh Sidhu instructed MC Officials to identify high-risk areas and give special attention to them. He also directed the officials for carrying out a survey to check dengue larvae in residential and commercial parts of the city. He also directed them to form special teams in this regard and generate awareness among people in the city to prevent the spread of dengue. He directed the officials to intensify fogging in all wards of the city, focusing on streets and vacant plots to kill mosquitoes and destroy the larvae breeding in stagnant water.
Mr. Sidhu said vulnerable places where the larvae of mosquitoes could breed easily must be identified and action must be taken immediately. Besides the checking drive, residents must be made aware of breeding grounds of mosquitoes such as air coolers, tea cups, old utensils, flower pot trays, ornamental plants among others.
