Now onwards, Sundays earmarked only for second dose at all government Covid vaccination centers

Teachers will not be able to get second vaccine before 84 days: Civil Surgeon
Mohali, September 2 2021 ‘Now onwards, every Sunday has been earmarked only for second dose at all the government Covid vaccination centers (CVC) across the district and the first dose will be given on all the days except Sunday,” Divulging this, Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur and Covid vaccination nodal officer Dr. Vikrant Nagra said that the Punjab Government has recently issued instructions that the beneficiaries would be given only the second vaccine every Sunday. They said a large number of people are delaying the due second vaccination, therefore it has been decided to earmark every Sunday only for administering second dose among beneficiaries at all the government vaccination centers and normal vaccination sessions for first and second dose of vaccine will remain the same during the week days except Sunday. They reiterated that there is no shortage of Covid vaccine in the district and the beneficiaries especially those who did not get the second vaccine in time should get vaccinated without any hesitation.
The Civil Surgeon also said that teachers of schools and colleges or other educational institutions would be given the second dose of Covaxin after a period of 84 days. She said that some teachers are visiting centers for the second vaccination before 84 days but they have not been given any relaxation in getting the second vaccination before the scheduled time. The health officials said the district administration has issued instructions to ensure vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff of all government and private schools, colleges, coaching centers or other educational institutions and students above 18 years of age by September 30. Parents of school and college going students will also be encouraged to get vaccinated. They said this decision has been taken to protect the educational institutions and others from the possible third wave of Covid pandemic.
