(Dr Daljit S Cheema says Cong playing fraud with Pbis by propelling Sidhu to top post as done by Capt Amarinder by swearing false oath on holy Gutka Sahib)
(Asks Sidhu to tell Pbis when he will get the promises made to people fulfilled. Also asks him to explain why he was extending patronage to the sand mafia)
Chandigarh, July 22 2021 The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said the Congress high command had already accepted that its government had failed Punjabis miserably and was now trying to wash away its non-performance by bringing about a change in face in its Punjab unit.
Stating that this was another form of fraud with the people in the same manner in which chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had deceived Punjabis by swearing false oaths on the holy Gutka Sahib, former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said Punjabis would see through this game and would not let this conspiracy succeed.
Addressing a press conference here, Dr Daljit Cheema said “it is a fact that Congress legislators had told the party high command that they would not be able to enter villages because the State government had not fulfilled any of the promises made to the people. The high command admitted this failure by handing over an eighteen point to-do list to the chief minister. It simultaneously appointed Navjot Sidhu as the Pradesh Congress President to shift the blame for the party’s non-performance on Capt Amarinder “.
Asserting that such cheap political moves would not wash ice with Punjabis, Dr Cheema said Navjot Sidhu was part and parcel of the non-performing Congress government. “Sidhu was a minister in the government for half of its term. He should first admit his failure to do anything for the welfare of the people”. He said Sidhu should simultaneously tell Punjabis when they would get an 85,000 crore farm loan waiver as promised by his government and party. He should also disclose when the promised 25 lakh jobs would be given to youth, give a timeline for eradication of the drug menace which had quadrupled during Congress period, tell industry when they would get power at Rs five per unit and when the demands of State government employees would be accepted”.
Dr Cheema said Sidhu was fond of speaking about probity in public life but his main supporters among legislators were those who were the kingpin of the sand and liquor mafia be it Darshan Brar, Kulbir Zira or Madan Lal Jalalpur. The SAD leader asked Sidhu whether he would tell the chief minister to take action against Darshan Brar for establishing an illegal stone crusher on forest land in Mukerian besides refusing to pay the Rs 1.5 crore penalty imposed on him for sourcing material illegally. “Darshan Brar was singing paeans to you just two days back and it is to be seen whether you side with Punjabis and ask the chief minister to take action against him or extend patronage to the sand mafia”.
The SAD leader also said it was unfortunate that while Congressmen were celebrating the elevation of Sidhu yesterday, four accused in the sacrilege case of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj had been given bail because the Congress government did not supervise the case properly. “This is the real face of the Congress party”, he said adding the Congress was only interested in playing politics on sacrilege rather than nailing those behind them.
Asking the Congress party to tell who would take responsibility for the loss caused to Punjabis, Dr Cheema said both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were working in cohorts to deceive Punjabis. “AAP is working as a B team of the Congress party even as it professes to work for the welfare of Punjabis but is actually following an anti-Punjab agenda be it on the issue of river waters, stubble burning or the recent move to force closure of the thermal plants in Punjab”.
Dr Cheema also asked the NDA government not to act in a dictatorial fashion by brushing away the demands of farmers seeking the repeal of the three agricultural laws. He said the central government was destroying the federal structure of the country by first meddling in the agricultural sector and now deciding to take over control of the state electricity utilities by proposing a new Electricity Bill in parliament.
