Struggle against Corona continues on war footing- CM Chouhan

Bhopal : Tuesday, April 27

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the struggle against Corona continues on a war footing. Arrangements are being made for better treatment of infected persons. State government is working on a dual strategy, in which on the one hand the spread of infection is being checked, while on the other hand continuous supply of oxygen is being ensured. Chief Minister Chouhan today inspected the temporary hospital being built near the Indo-Oman Refineries Limited, Bina.

It may be noted that a temporary hospital with a capacity of one thousand beds is being developed in Chakka village (Agasod), about 500 meters from BORL (Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd.), to provide proper treatment and adequate oxygen supply to Corona patients. Sometime back, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had issued instructions to start work in this direction on a war footing. Chief Minister Chouhan himself reached Bina on Tuesday afternoon and took stock of the entire work plan at the hospital site and inquired about the project, layout and other preparations.

Along with other general facilities, oxygen supply in particular will be ensured, in this hospital. Continuous supply of medical oxygen from the refinery to the temporary hospital will be ensured by converting industrial oxygen from the oxygen plant of Bina Refinery to medical oxygen.

Special attention should be given to arrangement of air, water and fire safety

Chief Minister Chouhan also took a review meeting at BORL. He instructed to ensure proper arrangement of air, water should be provided in the construction of the hospital and special care should be taken for fire safety. Officials of the refinery were told that water would be transported to the hospital dome by piping about 4 thousand meters from the water source of BORL. BORL has a storage capacity of 1.2 million liters of water. It is estimated that about 135 liters of water can be given per patient per day.

Chief Minister Chouhan directed that doctors, paramedical staff, Class IV employees etc. will be sent to the temporary hospital from other places. Therefore, good arrangements should be made for their stay and a 100-bed hospital should be prepared and its initial test done.

Chief Minister Chouhan said, since the patient cannot walk much, the toilet should not be far away for his convenience. There should be a lab near the hospital. He instructed to immediately prepare the sub-station for the power line and ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Necessary support from DRDO and Ahmedabad team

Chief Minister Chouhan informed that necessary technical support is being received from DRDO for the hospital setup and oxygen supply from BORL. The support of Ahmedabad team is also being sought for oxygen pipeline. He said that the oxygen pipeline will reach up to the dome of the hospital premises. Therefore, adequate arrangements should also be made for compressor etc. It was informed in the meeting that oxygen will be supplied to the patients through copper pipes from BORL to the hospital’s dome.

Create an OPD for patients’ consultation

Chief Minister Chouhan directed that an OPD (Outpatient Department) should also be set up in the hospital premises, so that patients can avail consultation and they can be admitted if required. He said that patients from Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen and Bundelkhand would be benefited from this hospital.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that considering the need in this phase of struggle against Covid, the government of Madhya Pradesh has got the option of Bina Refinery, where oxygen is available. Since it is difficult to move it elsewhere, so the decision was taken to build a hospital here. He said that treatment of Corona patients will soon begin here. He also discussed in detail about the arrangements for lodging, eating, water, sanitation, conveyance, medical staff, paramedical staff etc. related to the hospital.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Sagar MP Raj Bahadur Singh, Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargav, Revenue and Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput, MLAs Mahesh Rai, Umakant Sharma, Jaspal Singh, Pradeep Laria, Hari Singh Sapre, Shri Gaurav Sirothia, Divisional Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Shukla, Collector Shri Deepak Singh, Superintendent of Police Shri Atul Singh, other public representatives and officers.
