(Dr Daljit S Cheema says lying and embarrassing Pb and Pbis had become a second nature for the CM)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to tell Punjabis why he had lied that the UT administration had not asked the Punjab government to send a panel of officers to replace Mr Kuldeep Chahal after a decision was taken to remove the latter from the post of SSP, Chandigarh.

Asserting that lying and embarrassing Punjab and Punjabis had become a second nature for the chief minister, senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was condemnable that the former had made a mockery of governance by writing misleading letters and even making outlandish claims without any substantive grounds. He said now it was incumbent on the chief minister to explain why he had made a wrong claim that the UT Administration did not ask the Punjab government for a panel of officers after taking a decision to remove SSP Kuldeep Chahal.
Dr Cheema said the UT Administrator’s reply to the chief minister, which was in public domain, had made it clear that the Administrator made a request for a panel of officers on November 28 and subsequently even the Advisor to the Administrator had also reiterated this request on November 30. He said the letter also made it clear that the UT Administration was in constant touch with the Punjab government regarding the case.
The SAD leader said the chief minister should tell why he did not take any decision on the requests made by the UT Administration and had chosen to give a misleading response after Mr Kuldeep Chahal was removed from his post. Dr Cheema also asked the chief minister to disclose whether a panel had been sent in the case even now or not.
Meanwhile the SAD leader said it seemed that lying had indeed become the chief minister’s second nature. “Another lie of the chief minister was exposed today when State DGP Gaurav Yadav refused comment on Mr Bhagwant Mann’s earlier assertion that dreaded gangster Goldy Brar had been detained by the United States authorities. The chief minister should shed this habit and work in right earnest for the welfare of Punjab and Punjabis”, he added.
