Strong Network of Medical Facilities in the State to Fight COVID

Jaipur, September 6. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot said that the State Government will not allow any dearth of resources for protecting peoples’ life from COVID-19 pandemic. The top priority is to expand the medical facilities and to strengthen them. The Government with its continuous efforts and vigilance has established a strong network of medical facilities from the capital up to districts for COVID test and treatment.

No Shortage of Oxygen, ICU Beds and Ventilators

Shri Gehlot said, “There is no shortage of resources anywhere in the State. We have 3,018 oxygen beds of which only 872 are in use. Similarly, we have 913 ICU beds of which 406 beds are in use and out of 490 ventilators, patients are on 113 ventilators.” Looking at the future needs, the number of oxygen beds has been increased by 50 each in RUHS, Jaipuria Hospital and Railway Hospital in Jaipur. The number of oxygen beds is being increased in hospitals at the divisional headquarters besides the district hospitals. “We will not allow a shortage of oxygen beds anywhere in the State. Total 130 Dedicated Hospitals have been identified in the State for COVID-19. Apart from this, we have set up 292 COVID Care Centres,” he added.

Rates Have Been Fixed For Those Getting Treated In Private Hospitals

Shri Gehlot said that sufficient necessary facilities are available at the Government Hospitals in the State. “We have made the arrangement that if all the beds in the Government Hospitals get full then the COVID patients will get the facility of free treatment at the private hospitals,” he said. The District Collectors have been given orders in this regard. Besides this, the State Government has fixed rates of COVID treatment and diagnostics at private hospitals and laboratories to provide easy treatment on fair prices for those who can afford and wish to get treated on their cost at private hospitals, so that no one is overcharged.

Private Hospitals Can Keep Asymptomatic Patients At Hotels

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has made arrangements for the private hospitals that they can also keep asymptomatic patients who are not critical at the nearest hotels on the fixed rates, so that there is no shortage of oxygen and ICU beds for critical patients in the hospital. The private hospitals for this will have to take permission from the District Collector.

Succeeded In Keeping The Death Rate Minimum

Shri Gehlot said, “The number of positive cases is increasing throughout the country. The number of positive cases increased in the State also, but with the coordinated efforts we have succeeded in keeping the fatality rate to a minimum.” He said that in the last two months the death rate in the State has been less than 1%. Currently, the average death rate due to corona in Rajasthan is 1.26%, whereas the national average is 1.72% and 3% in Gujarat, 2.15% in Madhya Pradesh, 2.41% in Delhi and 1.48% in Uttar Pradesh.

Recovery Rate of Rajasthan Is Better Compared To Many Big States

The Chief Minister said, “The recovery rate has continuously improved because of our better management of corona. At present, it is 81.33%. In this regard, the position of  Rajasthan is better compared to the national average of 77.22% along with other big States such as Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra and others.” He said the number of active cases in the State is 15,577, whereas Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka having lesser population than Rajasthan have more than six times that is around 1 lakh active cases. Tamil Nadu has more than three times of Rajasthan that is 51,580 active cases and Uttar Pradesh has 59,963 active cases.
