Eating good food plays an integral part to keep the brain healthy, in both kids and adults. Several studies by the medical experts reveal that during the early years, developing of brain is essential for children as they pick up things quick, learn new information, discover talents and many more.
The term ‘brain development’ means the developing of the brain, its learning power, memory, and every other function that the brain performs by the age of six. Also, the development of the brain depends on various factors such as genetics, and most importantly the connections built up between the neurons in the brain.
However, doctors recommend children to eat these following foods to boost their functioning of the brain in well manner:
- Nuts: Enriched with protein, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, nuts are responsible for boosting the mood and keeping the nervous system in check. In nuts, peanut butter is a good option, which is good source of Vitamin E.

- Berries: Give your child fresh berries which will give them dozens of nutrients. These nutrients are said to keep the mind sharp through the increase of blood flow to the brain. Studies have shown enhanced memory with the extracts of blueberries and strawberries. Parents can add berries into yogurt or dips to give it a delicious taste.
- Fish: Fish is a good source of vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acid, which protects the brain from memory loss as they will be able to focus more on their things.
- Greens: There are plenty of benefits of green vegetable or health. Green veggies are packed with antioxidants and other effects that support new brain cells to grow.
- Apples: When children are inactive, give them apples or other fruit to boost vitamins and minerals. Apples and plums are box-friendly and tell your child to eat the skin as well for roughage.
- Dairy Products: Dairy foods including milk, cheese are packed with protein and B-vitamins that are essential for growth of brain tissue and enzymes. Some type of fat is required for the health of the brain which keeps brain cells in good condition for sending and receiving information.
- Whole Grains: The brain needs a continuous supply of glucose and whole grains provide the same to an extent. In addition, whole grains also have B-vitamins for a healthy nervous system.
- Oats: Oats are beneficial for brain development because they provide fresh energy for the brain that kids need in the morning. They are also good sources of vitamin E, B, potassium, and zinc that make the brain function go smoothly.
- Beans: Beans have multiple health benefits such as protein, complex carbohydrates, and fibre plus lots of vitamins and minerals. They are an excellent food for the brain since they keep their thinking level at its highest peak for a long duration.
