Bhagwant Mann ends hunger strike by giving juice to Saravjit Kaur Manuke and Manwinder Singh Giaspura
If Captain Amarinder Singh does not dismiss corrupt minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, AAP will launch mass agitation across Punjab
Ludhiana, June 19 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that the hunger strike held by the AAP fighters had put pressure on the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government and forced the government to release the post-matric scholarship amount of Dalit students. Describing the decision as a victory for the Aam Aadmi Party, Bhagwant Mann said that Captain Amarinder Singh himself had knelt before the struggle of the AAP warriors. Bhagwant Mann had arrived in Ludhiana on Saturday to culminate the hunger strike of Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Saravjit Kaur Manuke, Manwinder Singh Giaspura and other leaders on a dharna against the Congress government’s scam in Dalit students’ post-matric scholarships. Mann ended the hunger strike by giving juice to Saravjit Kaur Manuke, Manwinder Singh Giaspura and other leaders.
On the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh should now immediately dismiss his corrupt minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot who had embezzled Rs 64 crore in this scholarship and was messing with the future of Dalit students. He said that if Captain Amarinder Singh did not dismiss the corrupt minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, then the Aam Aadmi Party would launch a massive mass agitation across Punjab. Mann said that the intention of the Captain government was ineffectual and against the people whereas the intention of Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government was pro-people as the Delhi government was buying power from private companies and giving it to the people for free. He said that Congress, Akali Dal Badal and Bharatiya Janata Party governments had taken anti-people decisions and the people of Punjab would teach them a lesson by retaliating against these parties in the 2022 Assembly elections.
The AAP leader further said that the decision to release the scholarship amount of Dalit students had proved that the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government was lying till now, that the amount of only the central government was pending. Mann said that now the government has agreed to give 40 per cent of its share to the colleges, which is around Rs 200 crore. Thanking the workers including Saravjit Kaur Manuke, Manwinder Singh Giaspura, SC Wing district president Dharminder Singh Fauji, Amit Sharma Laddi, Amanchain, Jeevan Singh Sangowal, Jagdeep Saini and Sukhjivan Mohi, who went on a series of hunger strikes, Bhagwant Mann said that the Aadmi Party is serving the people of Punjab as a watchman and will continue to keep a close eye on the wrongdoings of the Congress government and will not allow the rights of the people to be robbed. On the occasion, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema, MLAs Principal Budhram, Jai Kishan Singh Rodi, Jagtar Singh Jagga Hissowal, SC Wing state president Lal Chand Kataruchakk, district president Suresh Goel, Gurlal Ghanaur, state secretary Amandeep Singh Mohi among other leaders were present.
