VITAMIN-D CAN SAFEGUARD YOU FROM CORONAVIRUS

Since the beginning of the pandemic, scientists are trying their best to find a cure so that the whole world can get back to normal. However, it is quite unlikely that we would get an efficient vaccine till mid of 2021. Till then, masks and sanitizers are our saviour. Another way we can protect ourselves is by eating healthy and maintaining physical fitness. In this, a major role is played by Vitamin-D as recent studies have shown that this vitamin can provide us some sort of immunity against coronavirus. A previous study showed the contrary that Vitamin-D could increase the risk against infection. However, this has been proven wrong.

In a recent study it was found by the researchers that out of all the people infected, 70% were deficient in Vitamin-D. People who had sufficient levels of the Vitamin were found to be safe. Thus, researchers are urging people to get plenty of sunshine every day as sun is responsible for producing vitamin in the body. Thus, it is also popularly known as the “sunshine vitamin”.

 

We still do not have enough evidence to support the fact that Vitamin-D can protect us and make us completely immune to the virus. There could be other factors too which are playing a major role. However, Vitamin-D is essential for the body as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Though the study shows that Vitamin-D can protect us against getting infected, no evidence have been found that it’s deficiency causes Covid-19.

Doctors go on to say that we can not completely rely on Vitamin-D to act as our shield and we overall need to maintain our health and fitness. Plenty of sunshine could be a good way to get Vitamin-D. Thus, do not forget to spend an hour under the sun daily.
