More than 80.6 percent turnout in 9 districts
Chandigarh, November 12 – Haryana State Election Commissioner said that the second phase of polling for Gram Panchayats in Haryana remained peaceful.
In this phase, voting was held for 2683 sarpanch and 25,655 panch posts in 57 blocks of 9 districts namely Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa and Sonipat, informed Sh. Dhanpat Singh.
He further shared that immediately after the completion of polling, the votes were counted and the election results were declared. More than 80.6 percent of people voted in this election. While, because of the wrong printing of ballot paper in Ward No. 4 and 6, repoll has been scheduled for the post of Panch of Lisana village of Rewari, on November 14, he added.
Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that since morning long queues of youth, elderly and women were seen at the polling booths. The polling peacefully took place.
Adequate arrangements were made to ensure that voters do not face any problems. The entire voting process went smoothly, shared the State Election Commissioner.
He informed that there are a total of 47,39,763 registered voters in the second phase. The recorded voting percentage was more than 80.6 percent.
Sh. Dhanpat Singh further informed that at some places some incidents related to malfunctioning of EVMs were reported but the officers involved in the election process immediately replaced that machine and got the polling restarted.
After the polling was over, the polling staff declared the election results after counting the votes of the candidates for the post of Panch and Sarpanch. The polling staff, police personnel and other officials engaged in the election performed their duties well, said Sh. Dhanpat Singh.
