During this, party’s general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat and senior leader and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh among other office-bearers were also present on the stage. The leaders and office bearers warmly welcomed Raman Bahl into the party. Raman Bahl, the son of former minister and four-time MLA from Gurdaspur, Khushal Bahl, has been president of the Gurdaspur Municipal Council twice and was a Panjab University senate member from 2008-12. He also served as senate member of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from 2004-06.

Expressing happiness by joining the AAP, Raman Bahl said that even though three generations of his family have been with the Congress, now there has been a huge decline in the Congress party at every level. At the same time, taking forward Punjab with the thinking of national leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, including the intention and policies of the AAP, is the need of the hour, he asserted. Raman Bahl further said that he joined the Aam Aadmi Party after being influenced by AAP’s anti-corruption and development model of Delhi including Arvind Kejriwal’s viewpoints.

AAP Punjab president Bhagwant Mann said that the Bahl family has contributed socially and politically to Punjab on every front and they are happy that Raman Bahl has joined the AAP. He said that Punjab is sad today despite the Akali-BJP and the Congress rule for years. The elderly who have eaten old supplements are fit and healthy, but today the plight of Punjab is such that even the beard of 25-30 year old youth has turned white. He said that in Punjab, agriculture is standing on the margins and farmers are committing suicides.

Bhagwant Mann said that when he talks about the need to revive Punjab’s agriculture in Parliament, the leaders and MPs of other states do not believe it, to hear about once a prosperous Punjab. But if today this plight has happened in Punjab and every region of Punjab, then only the Congress and the SAD-BJP government are responsible for it. That is why not only the people of Punjab but also good people of the Congress, BJP, Akali Dal and other parties are joining the AAP like the Bahl family.

AAP’s national spokesperson and Punjab Affairs co-in-charge and Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha said that with the joining of Raman Bahal in the AAP, he is sure that the people of Punjab will definitely ensure AAP’s victory in the Gurdaspur seat. Chadha said that Raman Bahal’s joining has further strengthened the party.

Senior AAP leader and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap said that the AAP does the politics of giving a happy future to Punjab and not looting the people. He said that the Congress and the Akali-BJP government have brought Punjab to the brink of ruin. Because of this, the people have a chance to make AAP win this time for the bright future of their loved ones and their state and country.
