Agroha will get international recognition by naming the Airport after Maharaja Agrasen – Deputy Chief Minister

Chandigarh. July 28 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala has said that the construction of an international level Airport in Hisar is an ambitious plan for the people of the entire State. Haryana Government will spend an amount of Rs. 946 crore for the construction work of Maharaja Agrasen International Hisar Airport. The allocated funds will be spent on different heads to complete the ongoing airport construction works in the second phase. The second phase of the construction of Hisar airport, being developed as an Integrated Aviation Hub, includes the construction of a cargo railway line in addition to the passenger line near Raipur.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride for the people of the State that Hisar airport has been named after Maharaja Agrasen by the Haryana Government. He said that the city of Agroha, which was established by Maharaja Agrasen, is just 20 km away from Hisar and now Agroha will also get international recognition with the naming of the International Airport. Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the allocated funds will be used during the next three years.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the work to develop Hisar as an aviation hub is going on at a brisk pace. He said that 15 percent of the total worth of Rs. 164 crore tender issued by Public Works Department for construction of runway, taxiway and airport apron has been completed and 75 percent to 90 percent work of excavation work of runway and earthwork on are completed.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the road connecting Talwandi Rana-Dhansu-Mirzapur and Hisar villages has been widened and strengthened so that it can be used as an alternate road when Talwandi Rana-Hisar road is closed. He said that under the allocated amount, construction of 3000 meter runway with cat light facility in the airport, terminal building, 23 meter wide taxi track, parking stand, cargo terminal, fire station, air traffic control building, boundary wall, light, maintenance building and other buildings including airport security building, domestic cargo building, power house, power transmission station, public parking space will be constructed.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that 7200 acres of land has been arranged on Government land for the construction of the airport. He said that 4200 acres of land in Hisar has come to the Civil Aviation Department and the process of transfer of remaining 3000 acres of land is in progress. The Deputy Chief Minister said that in the third phase, it is proposed to expand the existing infrastructure including the construction of a runway of about 4000 meters long.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the Haryana Government is seriously considering the plan to develop other industries around the airport at Hisar. He said that about 10,000 acres of land is available in Hisar and it is the best place to develop industries around the aviation hub.
