– Ministry of Defence must take written examination immediately for recruitment of 20,000 youth: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh/New Delhi, December 1 2021

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president and MP Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday once again emerged as the voice of the youth of Punjab in the Lok Sabha during the winter session, when he raised the issue of Punjab’s youth not joining the army.  Mann demanded from the Defence department of the country in the House that the written examination of about 20,000 youth of the state should be conducted at the earliest to complete the recruitment process of the army.

In view of the huge unemployment crisis in Punjab, Lok Sabha member from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann told the House through the chairman that the recruitment process of youth in Punjab was started by the Indian Army during 2021.  About 20,000 youth had also passed the Physical Test required for recruitment in the army. But the written exam was postponed by the Ministry of Defence due to the Covid pandemic.  Due to this, about 20,000 youth of Punjab were left out of joining the Army. Mann said that in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency alone, about 4,000 youth have passed the Physical Examination and are waiting for the written examination; due to which the desire of these youth to serve the country has remained unfulfilled.

Bhagwant Mann demanded from the Ministry of Defence that the process of army recruitment started in Punjab during the year 2021 should be completed at the earliest and the pending written examination should be conducted immediately, so that the youth of Punjab who have passed the physical examination, can get a chance to serve the country. It is worth mentioning that from the very beginning there has been a strong desire among the youth of Punjab to serve in the Indian Army. If the government does not complete the incomplete recruitment process on time, then thousands of youth will cross the prescribed age limit and their dream will be shattered forever.
