Slams Sidhu, said forgot issues of Punjab as soon as he got chair
Harpal Cheema, Aman Arora and Rupinder Ruby inaugurated new party office
Bathinda, July 22 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema said that by wasting four-and-a-half years in the battle to win the seat and save the seat; Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, former Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar and newly appointed president Navjot Singh Sidhu along with all the Congressmen, should apologise to the people of Punjab and give up the drama of apologising and not, to each other. Harpal Singh Cheema was here on Thursday to inaugurate the new party district office and was addressing the media on the occasion. He was accompanied by MLA Aman Arora, MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby, district president urban Neel Garg and district president rural Gurjant Singh.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that Navjot Singh Sidhu had forgotten all the issues of Punjab as soon as he got the presidency and now both Captain and Sidhu under the ‘drama of apology’ was diverting the attention from the real issues like desecration, drugs, power, unemployment, agrarian crisis and rampant mafia as part of a new conspiracy, which had been scripted by Prashant Kishor. The LoP further said that after getting the presidency of the Congress party, Navjot Singh Sidhu was visiting the same Congress ministers and MLAs from house to house, who were patrons of sand mafia, liquor mafia, transport mafia, cable mafia and drug mafia. “This proves that Navjot Sidhu has also joined hands with the corrupt,” he said.
Cheema alleged that Punjab and its people were not on the agenda of Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Sidhu before, nor are they now. “Both are fighting to retain their seats,” he added. Cheema disclosed that since the Congress party came to power, Punjab’s debt of Rs 90,000 crore has gone up further and the youth of Punjab have sunk further into the mire of unemployment. “If Navjot Sidhu had been serious, he would have fought the issues of Punjab during his three year tenure as Minister and would have tried to revoke the wrong power deals made by the Badals by taking charge of the power department; but he ran away from his responsibility to protect the interests of Punjab,” he said.
Taking a dig at the Badals, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the farmers of Punjab had been sitting on the borders of Delhi for a long time against the three agricultural laws which were signed and supported by Sukhbir Badal, Harsimrat Badal and Parkash Singh Badal. Congratulating the leaders of Bathinda district for opening a new office, Harpal Singh Cheema and Aman Arora said that this office would work harder than ever to listen to the problems of the common man and solve them.
