KARGIL, MAY 13, 2022 :- Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan chaired a meeting at Council Secretariat LAHDC Kargil to review the re-modelling/restoration and a facade makeover of Old Market area.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given by the consultants Darohar India engaged for the formulation of DPR for making old market area landmark heritage site keeping in view the history of the market on the silk route.
It was proposed to make the site pedestrian-only during daytime on the lines of the Chandni Chowk Heritage Corridor.
It was also proposed to remodel the area in sync with modern vision with a blend of traditional outlook to develop it as a primary tourist area and make the entire area keeping in view principles of symmetry and in tune with the traditional aesthetics.
The meeting was attended by EC Tourism, Councilor Town, ACR Kargil, AD Tourism Kargil, EO MC Kargil, Executive Engineer, KDA, and representatives of Darohar India. The meeting decided to take all stakeholders on board before moving ahead with the project.
