DC Kargil takes stock of pace of progress  of JJM works

Stresses officers to work dedicatedly to achieve targets within set timelines, warns of strict action against erring officers, contractors

 KARGIL, JULY 02, 2021: In order to take stock of the pace of progress of works under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting of the concerned officers here today.

District Superintending Engineer (PWD) Kargil Er Ved Prakash, District Planning Officer (CPO) Abdul Hadi, Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chandra, AEEs and JEs of PHE and JJM, representatives of the implementing support agencies, third party inspection agencies and contactors of JJM besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner was informed by the concerned officers that out of the total target of setting up of 19315 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in the district, DPRs of 18419 works have been completed, out of which AA has been accorded to 16338 works while tendering in case of 15390 works has been completed. It was further given out that 10052 works have been allotted for execution.

Apprising the Deputy Commissioner about the status of works, the concerned officers assured that the remaining DPRs will be submitted at the earliest possible, while the procurement of materials including pipes will be completed till 20th July, 2021.

While underlining the importance of JJM Scheme for providing drinking water supply in adequate quantity of prescribed quality to every rural household on regular and long-term basis, DC Santosh Sukhadeve stressed officers to make concerted efforts to ensure its implementation as a top priority scheme. He also said that keeping in view the harsh climatic conditions of the region, concrete measures should be taken to make sure the water supply lines remain functional during the winter season, adding he directed the concerned officers to do digging below the frost line and insulate the pipelines properly.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed all the concerned stakeholders to accelerate the pace of work to achieve the goal of Har Ghar Nal, Har Ghar Jal, in the stipulated timeframe which is 15th August, 2022.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve warned that contractors not adhering to timelines will be blacklisted, and strict action will be taken against the officers or engineers who are found showing callousness.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned officers to update the JJM portal on regular basis and make it properly functional. He also directed the Nodal Officer to create a Whatsapp Group of JJM comprising of contractors, AEEs, JEs and other concerned agencies to keep update of everyday progress under the supervision of the SE PWD Kargil.

With regard to land issues, DC Santosh Sukhadeve said that he will soon personally visit such areas along with the team of concerned officers to take on spot appraisal of the issues while efforts will be made to resolve the issues appropriately.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need of a comprehensive approach and community involvement to accelerate the scheme in the district, adding he exhorted to involve the Councilors, PRI members including BDC Chairpersons, Panchs, Sarpanch, religious heads and community members to spread awareness about the scheme.
