SAYS SKILL DEVELOPMENT NEED OF HOUR FOR OPENING NEW EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Emphasizing the significance of skill development in one’s career, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today termed Punjab Skill Development mission another benchmark initiative of the state government aimed at eliminating unemployment from the state.

The deputy commissioner during his visit to two multi skill development centres situated at Kapurthala road and Maqsudan, said that skill based training would transform the lives of unemployed youths by opening new vistas of employment for them.

He said that the problems of unemployment and poverty could be overcome easily by imparting quality skill training to the youth. He asserted that Skill training in various courses could open up new avenues of employment for the youth, which was the need of the hour adding that skill training could also present several self employment opportunities for the youth thereby enabling them to live their lives with dignity and pride.

He also added that now skill development courses related to IT and Healthcare services were also being initiated keeping in view the emerging scenario. He mentioned that a 21-day skill course was also underway to train participants for Covid care centres so that we don’t lack any manpower during the event of third Covid-19 wave, if happened.

Meanwhile, the DC interacted with the participants at both centres where he took their valuable feedback to make these courses more responsive and results-oriented. He also distributed study material and mobile tablets among students besidea exhorting youths to become active partners in this mission through maximum participation.

Pointing out further, Suraj Kaler from Punjab Skill Development Mission said that at present different courses including bridal makeup artist, welding, CNC operator, Chief in Hotel Management, and Customised crash course for Covid warriors were being offered at Maqsudan campus.
