Four general observers appointed by the ECI for Vidhan Sabha Elections and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Sunday met and interacted with the poll personnel at different locations of training and rehearsal sites to motivate them for election duty besides giving them tips how to perform their duty diligently and without any glitch.

Reaching at first venue in local HMV College, the Deputy Commissioner also went to vaccination point established for the poll duty staff to get their due dose administered. He said that the all the polling staff should be vaccinated with the due doses and those who had already received two doses, they could take booster dose at their respective training/rehearsal sites. Further, the Deputy Commissioner went to Doaba College where he also interacted with the staff on rehearsal. To ensure seamless accomplishment of this gigantic task of elections, all of us should perform our duties meticulously and diligently so that the entire operation could be completed without any hinder, said Thori.

The four General Observers namely Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Manoj Kumar, Dr. Saroj Kumar and Bhupendra S. Chaudhary also held discussions with the micro observers at CT University in two shifts. The observers also emphasized the need that all should be aware in advance about their duty and responsibilities besides fully aware of the operation of the electronic voting machines as well as taking prompt action in case of any technical snags. There was two shift of training of micro observers with a number of 947 in morning and 616 in evening.

Later on, the Deputy Commissioner also took a round of rehearsal sites at KMV Sanskriti School followed by Government Model Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road and Khalsa College Technical Campus to review the ongoing rehearsal and vaccination facility for polling staff.

Pertinently, on Sunday there were 10 locations in the district to conduct special rehearsal in view of Vidhan Sabha Polls scheduled for February 20, 2022. These locations included Government Senior Secondary School, Phillaur, Guru Nanank College (Boys) Nakodar, Government College Shahkot, Khalsa College Cantt Road Jalandhar, HMV College, Doaba College, GMSS School Ladowali Road, Apeejay College, KMV Sanskriti School and CT University, Shahpur.  The District Administration has deputed at least six vaccinators and three data entry operators at each rehearsal/training site to facilitate the vaccination for staff on election duty.
