VIRTUALLY REVIEWS ELECTION RELATED PREPAREDNESS

Reviewing election related preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Elections Officer Ghanshyam Thori directed all returning officers to ensure implementation of model code of conduct in letter and spirit besides initiating action as per the guidelines of the ECI, in case of any violation.

Emphasising that all the polling parties should be made properly aware about their duties and responsibilities on the day of voting, the Deputy Commissioner said that they would be provided requisite information during upcoming second and the third training. The meticulous training can be immensely helpful in smooth conduct of elections in all nine constituencies having 1650867 including 858305 male and 792532 female and 30 transgender voters. He also asked the ROs about the preparations being made at total 1975 polling stations. He said that all necessary arrangements should be put in place well in advance at all 1163 polling stations locations in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said that security of EVMs, transportation would also be a major task for the staff deployed for this purpose and all ROs should be ready with the detailed plan in this regard. He said that a route plan should also be chalked out to facilitate the PWD voters or the voters above the age of 80 years so that their maximum participation could be ensured. All ROs should come up with this plan by February 1, said Ghanshyam Thori adding that these voters should be motivated and encouraged towards voting to be held on February. He also reviewed the status of distribution of 12-D forms to these voters for getting postal ballot facility in the district.

This virtual meeting was attended by the ADC (D) Jaspreet Singh, ADC (UD) Aashika Jain, ADC (G) Amarjit Bains, all ROs, election tehsildar Sukhdev Singh and other concerned officers.
